The Monarch butterfly makes a beautiful color contrast in the goldenrod.
Monarch in a meadow
I took this picture of a doe browsing the bank of Robb Resevoir from my kayak. Deer don't seem to be spooked as much by someone on the water.
I was driving around the back roads of East Washington, NH one late summer afternoon and came upon this bucolic setting. As quickly and quietly as possible I got out and took a picture. I really didn't want to leave.

This canvasback duck was swimming in the surf near the rocks on coast of Maine. Normally, you don't see these ducks close up as they usually raft up (gather in groups) much further out.
Winter road up Pack Monadnock. I often walk it to the peak if we have not had too much heavy snow. Some months you can see both a full moon rise and a sunset in the same evening.

The red wing blackbird is my favorite bird. My Grandmother and I always listened for his first call in the Spring. I look forward to seeing and hearing him in my favorite wetlands. This one must have had a nest nearby as he hid and watched me as I drifted by in my kayak in Stanley Brook.
This friendly sunfish kept hanging around in the shallows where we were swimming and having a picnic at Howe Reservoir so I took his picture with a zoom lens.
Great Blue Heron taking off. It always amazes me how these big, gangly birds get airborne!
The Monarch butterfly again and two pickerel weeds in bloom along the banks of the Contoocook River.

I was driving around Vermont back roads and saw this typical late season haying operation.
This is Old Orchard Beach and is an early morning picture taken by my sister who picks up the beach at sunrise in the summer.
All aboard for Springvale!! I saw this is someone's yard in Washington, NH. I think the Springvale run was long over. Wonder where Springvale was and who rode on that bus.
These purple petunias looked pretty against the lichen covered stone wall of Admiral Peary's summer cottage on Eagle Island Maine, so I took a close up.
I saw this cardinal outside my window on a sleety, icy winter day so I took his picture and and made sure there was plenty of sunflower seeds in the feeder.
This snapping turtle is bigger than he looks in this picture. I sneaked up and he went on the alert and literally dove into the water. They can move fast when they want to. Snappers cannot retract their head and legs into their shell like other turtles.
This guy came on my back deck and I threw him some nice seeds. Then he looked like he was praying for more and I liked the way the late afternoon sun looked on his back, so I took his picture. Red squirrels normally like the deep forest and don't like to mix with the gray squirrel.
Ranger shack, Eagle Island Maine. One of our favorite boat trips in the summer. I liked all the lobster pots they gathered over the years and displayed. The next year they were all gone and the park ranger told me that they had could not keep them according to Maine law.

Picket fence roses from the front yard of a beautiful house we once owned.
Granddaughter Megan contemplates the Pacific on a misty day.
We were exploring around Stowe Vermont and came across this backyard patio of a nice inn.

The White River in Vermont on an early morning misty day.
