Every year I look forward to seeing the waterlily on my favorite marshes. Waterlillies, buzzing dragon flies and the sound of bull frogs is one of summers delights.

As I paddled around Carpenter Marsh this mother Wood Duck herded her brood away and then pretended to be injured, putting on quite a performance. I quickly went another direction so they would not be too stressed out.

The Great Blue Heron and I seem to hang around in the same neighborhoods. As I drifted by, this bird was wading around in a shallow back water of the Conneticut River. I often kayak this river and fish and take pictures during the week. This beautiful river is an under utilized resource and I often have the river to myself during the week.

I was out snowshoeing at one of my favorite backwood swamps one glorious winter day and as I turned around to look back, I liked the looks of the lonely snowshow tracks in this remote spot.

Eagle Island is situated in the outer reaches of Casco Bay can be accessed by tour boat out of Portland Harbor or private boat. I have been there many times over many summers. It was Admiral Peary's summer home and is a wonderful place. This is the entrance to his former home, now a Maine State Park and with assistance from the Friends of Eagle Island . Bring a lunch and spend a beautiful summer day!

I took this picture of MacDowell Lake from MacDowell Dam on a beautiful autumn day. This impoundment was created by the Army Corps of Engineers to control flooding in the area where I live. I often fish and kayak in that lake.

I was fishing from my kayak one day and not having much luck. I looked over to see this Great Blue Heron making a monkey out of me having such good luck. Nice fish!

Normally, I am interested in nature and wildlife pictures but this fourth of July parade in Ocean Park, a small hamlet in Maine, had a genuine and sincere quality about it.

I slowly drifted near to this great blue heron to get a picture of him siluetted against the pickerel weed. He let me do just that and then took off with a big SQUOOCK.

Mt. Monadnock near where I live can be enveloped in quite spectacular sunsets in the late fall and early winter.

I have a rather remote backwater marsh spot I go to and rarely see anyone. But once in awhile this kid surprises me as he quietly fishes for bass in the back corners of the weed beds. He is always alone and we always exchange a knowing wave or hello between two kindred spirits.

In the summer the slow stretches of the river have little "meadows" of blooming pickerel weed just like the uplands have meadows of daisies or black eyed susans.

As I was paddling the under the covered bridge on the Contoocook River one late afternoon I noticed this purple loosestrife plant and a small cardinal flower growing out of the concrete. It was the shadow cast on the concrete abutment that caught my attention.

Monarch butterfly and pickerel weed. Thanks to my Grandmother I will always be attracted to Monarchs (and anything wild for that matter).

The yellow pond lily has a very beautiful yellow color. I don't think many of the colors found in nature can be duplicated by man.

The bumblebees are always hard at work deep in the flowering pickerel weeds!

The red winged blackbird is my favorite bird and here he is coming in for a landing in my (his) marsh.
